Supporting East Timor's only shelter for LGBT+ people
When COVID-19 hit East Timor, a small island country in South East Asia, also known as Timor-Leste, LGBT+ people were left out of economic recovery schemes by the government and had little access to information and basic supplies.Arcoiris, a local group, jumped in by providing food, face masks, hand sanitizer, and more to those in need. Through their LGBT+ shelter, which is the only one there, they also offer a safe space where the community can meet, mobilize support, and share knowledge, but they needed support to keep up with the demand. All but one councillor voted for the law.
All Out ran a fundraiser with Arcoiris in April 2021 to help them be able to keep up with their life-changing support for their community.
Thanks to All Out members, we were able to raise the funds Arcoiris needed to continue to lift up LGBT+ lives in a beautiful show of solidarity, support, and hope for better days ahead.
