Trapped through dating apps – and rescued with your help
In Egypt, your support helped queer people targeted and entrapped by police on commonly used dating apps like Grindr. Thanks to donations from All Out members, our partner Bedayaa has been able to deliver life-saving legal aid and psychological support to LGBT+ people in Egypt – despite an escalating crackdown.
In the last year alone:
- Over 70 queer people received emergency psychological care
- 20+ individuals received legal aid, including those arrested at private gatherings or entrapped via dating apps
- A dedicated lawyer and mental health team were hired with All Out members' donations to defend and support community members at extreme risk
But the danger is real.
In late 2024, Bedayaa was forced to shut down its public presence after Egyptian state security detained and interrogated LGBT+ activists linked to their work. Phones were searched. Offices were closed. Staff had to relocate for their safety. Still, Bedayaa hasn’t stopped. They continue to support LGBT+ people facing arrest, harassment, and violence – made possible by your solidarity.
This is the power of global solidarity.
This is what your donations make possible.
