Victory in Bavaria: German state finally gets an LGBT+ action plan

While 15 federal states in Germany had already implemented strategies to protect the LGBT+ community, Bavaria lacked such a plan.

To close this gap, the Gay Communication and Cultural Center Munich (SUB) and All Out launched a crucial petition. Thanks to the overwhelming support of more than 16,000 All Out members, the initiative was a complete success! The petition was handed over to the Bavarian Minister of Social Affairs in August 2023.

Three months later, the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs was commissioned to develop a comprehensive LGBT+ Action Plan. This will be developed in a participatory process from 2024, finalized in 2025, and officially adopted by the Bavarian state government in 2026.

This action plan will not only combat homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of anti-LGBT+ hate, but also actively promote equality for LGBT+ people. This victory clearly shows how effective our joint efforts are.
