All Out is a global movement for love and equality. Here's how it works.
Imagine being thrown in jail, just for who you love. Or being tortured because people think you have a disease that needs "curing." Every day, this is happening to LGBT+ people all over the world.
The good news is that together, we can stop it.
All Out is a global movement fighting for a world where NO ONE has to sacrifice their family, freedom, safety, or dignity because of who they are or who they love.
How do we do it?
We mobilize thousands of people around the world to stand up for LGBT+ rights.
When a moment of crisis or opportunity comes up – like an anti-gay law going to a vote or a crackdown on a Pride march – All Out works closely with partners to come up with inspiring ways for our members to take action.
From signing a petition to joining a protest, from sharing on social media to making a donation, All Out members turn solidarity into action every single day.
The kinds of campaigns we run
All Out runs three types of campaigns:
Pressure Campaigns
Most of our campaigns start as online petitions directed at decision makers. We combine online petitions with several other tactics – media work, offline actions, etc. We raise the voices of local LGBT+ activists and get thousands of us to back them up.
Crowdfunding Campaigns
Grassroots Giving is a groundbreaking fundraising program connecting All Out's large global audience to LGBT+ groups. Through this program, thousands of All Out members make small donations online to collectively fund the work of local groups around the world fighting to end inequality, discrimination, and injustices against LGBT+ people.
All Out members can start their own campaign on any LGBT+ issue on our platform. The platform is the only petition-creation tool dedicated solely to LGBT+ rights – and it’s 100% free and safe! Have a campaign idea? Click here to get started.
Plus... Training the Next Generation of Activists
Since 2019, All Out has been training young, LGBT+ activists around the world through our Fueling Digital Activism training program. We've trained hundreds of burgeoning changemakers throughout Latin America and Africa, so they can run their own mobilization campaigns for LGBT+ rights in their communities.
What are our values?
These are the values that guide our day-to-day work at All Out:
We're bold. We're courageous in our work. We're not afraid to take risks. We're loud, authentic, and playful. We push boundaries.
We're global. We are an international and diverse organization. We value and prioritize diversity. We are global in brand, team, language, and membership.
We're innovative. We value creativity, imagination, and smart rule-breaking. We are open to change and we embrace a test, fail, and learn culture.
We're a connector. We connect local to global and global to local. We place value on connecting hundreds of thousands of individual citizens to the frontline of the global struggle for LGBT+ rights. We enable strong ties of solidarity. We are accountable to our supporters for the time and money they invest. We are accountable to frontline activists to deliver campaigns transparently and based on their priorities.
Our 5 Year Vision
All Out is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for the rights and freedoms of LGBT+ individuals all over the world.
In 2022, we completed a Five Year Vision process. The Vision is designed to help us navigate through to the start of 2028, achieving the greatest possible impact. It will be complemented by one-year rolling strategies.
Below is a summary of our Five Year Vision:
Over the next five years, the organization will focus on four key strategic intentions: campaign, empower, thrive, and grow.
The "campaigning" strategic intention involves expanding the range of campaign-based tactics we deploy, including online petitions, story-sharing campaigns, and offline actions. All Out will work to challenge decision-makers and influence public opinion through impactful and accessible campaigns. We will focus on global solidarity, bringing people together across boundaries of sexual orientation, gender identity, language, culture, race, class, and religion to create a unified movement for love and equality.
The "empowering" strategic intention is about supporting LGBT+ individuals and communities around the world to advocate for their own rights and freedoms. This will include improving our Megaphone platform, where members can create and launch their own petition or fundraiser, providing crowdfunded resources and trainings to our grassroots partners and community members, and amplifying the voices of marginalized groups within the LGBT+ community.
The "thriving" strategic intention focuses on implementing policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as supporting the professional development and well-being of staff and volunteers.
The "growing" strategic intention involves increasing the number of people in the All Out movement, our fundraising efforts, and our collective impact. This will require the organization to be responsive to both external factors and its own capacity to grow.
All Out recognizes that it is operating in a difficult and complex world, where it is likely that much of its work will involve "holding the line" on rights and freedoms that have already been won, as well as fighting for greater equality and dignity for all.
The organization believes that by engaging in intersectional partnerships with those fighting for climate, racial, economic, and women's rights, it will be able to have a greater impact and create lasting change for LGBT+ individuals.
The global trend of successful populist leaders who are willing to discriminate against minority groups, including LGBT+ individuals, in order to maintain their own power is unlikely to end anytime soon. All Out expects to see increased economic insecurity, forced migration, material scarcity, and conflict in many parts of the world, all of which increase the likelihood of LGBT+ people being blamed and scapegoated.
Despite these challenges, All Out remains committed to its mission of ensuring that every person can enjoy their right to family, freedom, safety, or dignity, regardless of who they are or who they love. Through its work in campaigning, empowering, thriving, and growing, All Out will deliver the impact that creates positive change for LGBT+ people around the globe.
