Justice for Wendy Faith and Diana Denise!

In July 2026, charges against Wendy Faith and Diana Denise were dropped!

The two young women were arrested in Arua, a city in north-western Uganda, after police raided their rented room. According to local authorities, they were reported by members of the community and accused of engaging in same-sex intimacy, including allegedly kissing each other in public. Under Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, they were facing life imprisonment.

When Ugandan activists started a petition challenging the arrest, 23,000 All Out members signed to ask for their release, and for charges against them to be dropped. Every signature loudly affirmed that no one should face arrest, imprisonment, or violence simply for who they are or for expressing affection. And it worked!

This victory is important as it helps ensure that when LGBT+ Ugandans are targeted for being who they are, their cases are not ignored. And, importantly, for Wendy and Diana it ensures their lives and dreams can continue, in freedom and dignity.
