Global Speak Out for Hungary: Resources page

On June 15, Hungary's parliament passed legislation similar to Russia's "gay propaganda” law. The law bans any material that could be seen by minors and that features gay characters or any sort of support for the LGBT+ community.

After an outcry by the international community and the initiation of legal proceedings by the European Commission, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced a referendum to confirm the  anti-LGBT+ legislation, which came into effect on July 8th.

On August 14th 2021, there will be Speak-Outs, small protests, in front of several Hungarian embassies and consulates around the world.

Our Goal is to show solidarity with Hungarian LGBT+ people, to generate media attention and to demand that the  European Commission maintains the pressure on Hungary.
