Helping asylum seekers in the UK
Thousands of LGBT+ people seek safety in the UK, fleeing death threats and violence in their home countries.
LGBT+ asylum seekers often aren't safe in the houses where they're placed - living with people from their home countries who may hold anti-LGBT+ views.
Together with Micro Rainbow International (MRI), we ran a Grassroots Giving fundraiser to help give LGBT+ asylum seekers a safe place to stay as they awaited a decision on their asylum claim. The campaign raised enough for MRI to pay for at least 10 LGBT+ people to be relocated to their LGBT+ safe houses while they awaited asylum.
