Our campaigns are proof that love wins. Here are some of our greatest victories (so far!).
All Out's first miniseries on LGBT+ shelters in Brazil
When you're an LGBT+ person your own home can sometimes become a dangerous place to live. In Brazil, LGBT+ shelters provide refuge for those who are vulnerable and in need of help.
These homes, spread all over Brazil, operate independently and face immense struggles. They offer shelter, food, resources, professional training, physical and mental health care and, above all, affection to those who need it most.
But LGBT+ shelters were also in need of support – as there was still no national policy to guide, support and guarantee shelter for LGBT+ people.
With this in mind, All Out launched the Brazil: Support LGBT+ Shelters! campaign, which demanded the creation of a national policy to support LGBT+ shelters in Brazil.
The campaign was divided into two parts:
- A documentary miniseries telling the stories of four shelters.
- A petition asking the Brazilian government and President to create policies that specifically support LGBT+ shelters.
To better understand the situation of these homes in Brazil, All Out invited four organizations with different backgrounds from different regions of the country to tell their stories.
From the perspective of those who provide and those who receive shelter, these stories tell us about the daily lives of these organizations, their challenges, their hopes for the future, and the small victories that prove the importance of providing safe spaces for LGBT+ people to exist without fear.

This campaign received support from many different people all throughout 2023!
- It was part of the line-up for the Rio LGBTQIA+ international film festival.
- It was the subject of an interview on Programa de Travesti - led by activist Sara Wagner York - and an article on Rede TVT's Seu Jornal.
- It motivated Drag Queen Frimes to highlight the importance of the campaign in the middle of a show.
- It also received video support from a number of influential people, including lawmakers like Erika Hilton, Duda Salabert, Guilherme Cortez, Fábio Félix, Benny Briolly and Carla Ayres, journalist Lorena Coutinho and activists like Debora Baldin and Jupitter.
This mobilization, together with the strength and commitment of all the All Out community, meant we were able to collect almost 70,000 signatures from people all over the world, and garner the support of 72 civil society organizations in defense of LGBT+ shelters in Brazil.
And it worked!
In December 2023, Brazil's National Office for the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People announced the Acolher+ program, which will guarantee the necessary support for LGBT+ shelters and the people they assist.
In celebration of this victory, in January 2024, the All Out team traveled to Brasília to meet Secretary Symmy Larrat, where they delivered the signatures, talked about the program and discussed the next steps in the fight to defend LGBT+ shelters.
This victory proves that when we stand together we are stronger!
